Proxiehunter is a blogger who also goes by John Smith (though it was later confirmed that this was an alias). As his pseudonym suggests, he hunts down the Servants (or Proxies) of The Fears. Little is known about Proxiehunter prior to his life as a Runner, however he has stated that he was in fact married at one point in his life, and it would seem that a Proxy (or possibly a Fear) killed his wife.
Proxiehunter started his involvement in the Runner community by commenting on various blogs. In 2011 he started working on The Most Dangerous Game, an informational blog that teaches Runners which servants they can fight and how to kill them, and which servants they should avoid and run away from.

- He has stated that the reason his name is "Proxiehunter" and not "Proxyhunter" is because when he made the account when he was suffering from a concussion that he received while fighting a Proxy.
- Proxiehunter is often described as a much more violent version of the runner M (who originally wrote the blog known as The Tutorial). M taught runners three rules about running from only The Slender Man, while Proxiehunter has many more rules that apply to all Fears.
