The Abhorrence's design was loosely inspired by Freddy Krueger.
His line "It is a secret to everyone", in Distance Record XVI: Slendy and Shadow is a reference to the same phrase the Secret Moblin says to Link The Legend of Zelda when he gives the Hero of Time rupees.
