The Deep is a hypothetical portrayal of the Fear of the Unknown, representing the unexplored and undiscovered. As such, its existence cannot be properly confirmed, even though it has been induced to explain certain known facts (such as why EAT has not yet replaced all water on the planet with ink). Because of this, the exact nature and powers of the Deep are still rather obscure. It is assumed to exist in the marine abyss or the far reaches of outer space, but although a handful of phenomena have been documented which may or may not originate from The Deep, it itself lurks outside the range of the best observations known to modern science. This, it is safe to say, is conclusive proof of The Deep's nefarious intent.
